Spiritual Life ~ Providing a Balance
Mother Mary Angeline Teresa, O. Carm., Servant of God, said it best, “Be kinder than kindness itself.” Through the genuine care and compassion of our staff and the Carmelite Sisters, the spirituality of every resident is respected and nurtured. St. Joseph Nursing Home is the only Catholic Nursing Home in the Mohawk Valley, and many of our residents develop their spirit through daily Mass and the other sacraments, the rosary, and Benediction. We, indeed, are fortunate to have the spiritual guidance and care of Fr. David Sambor, a priest of the Diocese of Syracuse.
For those residents who are not of the Catholic faith, we offer diverse pastoral care. We respect their differing faiths, believing that “each person is to be served as though they were Christ himself.” (Mother Mary Angeline Teresa, O. Carm.)
Another element of the spiritual life at St. Joseph Nursing Home is the presence of the Carmelite Sisters. The Sisters have a 24 hour presence on site and work among all of the residents and staff. They provide valuable insight and substantial labor, and they offer this insight and labor in a spirit of compassion and concern for each of the residents.
